A Lovely Day Tomorrow

Good afternoon. Full details of the Czech A Lovely Day Tomorrow single have been announced. 1,942 copies of the single are being produced and shall be sold on the band's UK tour and via the official website, giving it a "release date" of 17th April. That's when the tour starts, for the less observant of you. Katerina Winterova from The Ecstasy Of Saint Theresa will take vocal duties on the first track, which is - believe it or not - A Lovely Day Tomorrow. The second track also has Katherina on vocals, and it goes by the name of Zítra Bude Krásný Den. That's A Lovely Day Tomorrow, but in Czech. British Sea Power return to vocals for the final song, Fakir. It's a Czech folk song from the 1930s, performed at the recent Sonic Boom Instore in Seattle.

"Thousands of 70% finished songs"

I'm four days late with this, but better late than never, as they say. Anyway, Drowned In Sound reported that the band's gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire on the 29th April could be the last time the band decorate the stage with trees and branches. They also say that Yan told them the band have "thousands of 70% finished songs". The full article reads:

British Sea Power begun work writing their second album in February, shut off from the world for three weeks round Brighton's South Downs. Vocalist/guitarist Yan told DiS this morning: "That was the first effort we've made so far [writing new material]. We had a lot of fun and have hours of various kinds of recordings... like thousands of 70% finished songs."

While it seems the follow-up to last year's 'The Decline Of British Sea Power' seems a little way off, they are set to embark on their biggest tour yet (dates here), culminating at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on April 29th. Yan also says that particular gig could be the last time the band decorate the stage with their famous foliage. :-O

Although some fans going to Glastonbury are already planning a "Camp Sea Power" (thagt's an area in the campsite, not a gay tribute band), BSP aren't, at time of writing, confirmed for the festival, but Yan says: "We're doing the Isle of Wight festival, which will be good as I've never been there before. I hear they have some good wildlife there."

On the BSP tourbus stereo recently: The Silver Jews, Buddy Holly, Lonnie Donegan, Julian Cope, Galaxie 500.
